Your Relationships Affect Your Health
Oct 02, 2026
Your body is a lie detector you did not sign up for.
It does not care what you post on Instagram about that relationship. It only cares what actually happens in your nervous system when that person's name shows up on your phone.
You know the feeling. Your shoulders climb up around your ears before you even answer. Your stomach does a small, unglamorous flip. You have not said one word yet and your body has already voted.
That is not you being dramatic. That is a signal.
You did not get more tired this year. You got on three more calls with the person who leaves you feeling smaller every time you hang up.
Your labs come back fine. Your doctor says you are healthy. And you still feel like you got hit by a truck after Thanksgiving dinner. Both things are true. The bloodwork does not measure that particular relative.
Your nervous system does not know the difference between a business problem and a personal one. It also does not know the difference between an actual threat and your cousin who corrects you at every family gathering. It reacts the same way to both. Stress chemistry does not read the room.
So the body braces. Again and again. Quietly. Until quiet stops being possible and it starts showing up as fatigue that sleep does not fix, or a headache that shows up like clockwork every Sunday at four o'clock, right before that one phone call.
You do not need a new supplement for that. You need a hard look at who gets access to you.
This is the part where I say something slightly inconvenient. Not every relationship in your life is supposed to survive your growth. Some of them were built for the version of you that overexplained herself and apologized for taking up space. That version is retiring. Some relationships are not coming with her.
That is not cruelty. That is just what happens when a plant needs more sun and the corner it has been living in only ever offered shade.
Try this before your next hard phone call. Notice your body before you answer. Tight jaw. Shallow breath. Bracing shoulders. That is the signal. Then notice what story you tell yourself about it. I am too sensitive. I am overreacting. I should just get over it. That is the story, and it is usually a lot less accurate than the signal underneath it.
The relationships that are actually good for you feel different in the body. Steadier. Looser. You leave the conversation with energy instead of a headache. That is not a coincidence and it is not luck. That is your Spiritual Guidance System doing exactly what it is built to do, if you let it finish the sentence instead of talking over it.
You are not asking for less connection. You are asking for connection that does not cost you your health to keep.
If you have been blaming your body for symptoms that are actually your relationships talking, that is exactly the kind of thing we untangle together on a clarity call.
