Letting Go of What Weighs You Down: Releasing Limiting Beliefs
Jun 20, 2025This changed my life.
And it’s still changing it.
I spent years trying to "fix" myself — chasing perfection, pushing through exhaustion, performing strength I didn’t feel.
But underneath all of it lived a quiet, relentless whisper:
You’re not enough.
You’re too much.
You have to earn your worth.
That voice didn’t come from my Soul Self.
It came from old programming — from stories I inherited, absorbed, and repeated until they felt like truth.
What I didn’t realize then is that those stories… were beliefs.
Limiting ones.
And they were weighing me down.
Limiting beliefs are those unconscious thoughts that shape how we see ourselves, what we think we’re capable of, and what we allow ourselves to receive.
They sound like:
-
“I don’t have time to take care of myself.”
-
“I should be farther along by now.”
-
“If I slow down, I’ll fall apart.”
-
“Who am I to want more?”
They don’t just live in your mind.
They live in your body.
In your breath.
In your symptoms.
Functional medicine teaches us that chronic stress patterns — even unspoken ones — impact everything from hormone balance to gut health to inflammation.
When we carry beliefs that keep us stuck in overdrive or self-doubt, our bodies feel it.
That’s what I call Soul Inflammation.
It’s the inner dissonance between who you are and who you’ve been taught to be.
And the healing begins with awareness.
When I began identifying my own limiting beliefs, I didn’t shame them.
I got curious.
Where did this story come from?
Who gave it to me?
Is it true?
Does it serve me now?
And then — piece by piece — I began releasing.
Not perfectly. Not all at once.
But gently.
Like peeling off a heavy coat I didn’t realize I was still wearing.
Every time I let go of an old belief, I felt something new rise:
Clarity.
Peace.
Freedom.
The incredible, capable, loving woman I actually am.
The Soul Self.
She’s always been there.
And every release is an unveiling.
Baby Step Invitation:
This week, listen to the stories you tell yourself. Write down one belief that feels heavy or unkind.
Ask yourself:
-
Is this mine?
-
Is it true?
-
What would I rather believe?
Then, write a new sentence. One that honors your Soul Self. One that feels like love.
You don’t have to believe it fully yet.
You just have to begin.
